The Application Process
What you need to know
The grant deadline is June of each year.
Grants are awarded two times yearly. Applications MUST be in our hands by the deadline. Finalists may be contacted to provide additional information. All applicants will be notified via email approximately four to six weeks after the application deadline.
To ensure applicants’ privacy, application information for those not selected as grant recipients will be destroyed one month after the grant deadline. For this reason, repeat applicants must submit all forms and accompanying information anew.
If you’re selected for a grant, you may be required to undergo a background check.
What you need to include with your application
Completed OARS Foundation Application Form including medical evaluation portion. The medical portion of the application is to be completed by the physician. Please allow sufficient time for your physician to complete these pages and return them to you.
Personal story – 2 pages maximum. One photo is required.
Application fee of ₦25,000. Make check payable to OARS Foundation. Personal Check or Cashier’s Check only. Applications submitted without a fee will NOT be reviewed.
Signed media release form permitting OARS Foundation to use your story (included with the application.) Recipients are often asked to do interviews, both print, and TV. Photos will also be posted on Facebook with first names and locations only.
A copy of both sides of the applicant’s insurance card and that of the partner (if applicable).
What happens after you submit your application?
Within a few days of our receiving your paperwork, you will be sent an email confirmation. Some applicants MAY be asked to provide additional information.
Applications are thoroughly reviewed by various committees:
Women’s health advocates
Financial advisers
Reproductive specialists
Approximately 2 – 3 weeks after grant deadline, those selected will be called. Those NOT receiving a grant will receive an email. Grant selections will also be announced on social media.
